What is Communication?

Introduction: Communication in the world we live in is not only necessary but vital. A world where communication does not exist will be bereft of progress and development. Communication there fore is essential for all spheres of life.

As such, communication from inception has been spawned by different individuals. With the use of different mediums as its means. In this article, we are going to study and come to terms with the different mediums of communication as well as it's benefit.

What Communication is: Communication has to do with interaction, the exchange of information, knowledge or ideas for the sole purpose of understanding and development. Communication is inevitable.

If one wishes to be understood, one has to communicate. One can imagine how the world must have been when there was no communication, when it was filled with nothingness. The Holy book describes the earth to be devoid of anything at the time. Light, animals and plants came to be with the use of communication.

Effective communication: Communication can never be effective without the presence of these three factors.
The sender
The message
The receiver.

The sender: The sender is the originator of the message. Outside the place of a sender, then they would be no message and we can't in turn state that communication took place. What this verifies is that these factors cannot function without the other. None is dispensable.

The message: This is the communication body itself. The body of the message. It can be in words or in action.
The Channel: This is the medium used for communication. The passage or means the communication has been used to pass across. It could be radio, television or even traditional modes of communication.

The Receiver: This is the persona the message was meant for. The receiver can as well be called the encoder of the message.
Mediums of communication

Television as a medium of communication: Television as a medium of communication can send messages to its audience simultaneously. This means that it can communicate to large audiences at a time.

Radio as a medium of communication: Radio shares similarities with television as it has to do with communication in the sense that both media sends messages to the masses simultaneously. While television engages the organ of sight, radio doesn't. The benefit of radio as a form of communication is it's portability. It can be carried about. It is more affordable than television.

Importance of Communication: Communication is very important. Communication makes it easy for action as well as inactions to take place. Communication propels positive change and development.
Communication can foster development in the society:

What this means is that through communication, a society which was been left behind in terms of development. Indidviduals relaying messages to the government who in turn gives relevant feedback.

Communication can reduce conflict and stop impending wars: Through proper communication, wars and conflict, be it intrapersonal or interpersonal can be brought to a halt. Man cannot survive without communication. So, through communication, misunderstanding that could possibly breed war can be stopped.

Communication through the media creates awareness: Awareness can as well be created through the use of both African traditional system of communication and the modern system.

Conclusion: Communication is dynamic and all round. Communication has proven to be very useful in the society and world at large. Communication can make, communication can Mar. It all depends on how we communicate and the different languages and channels we use.

A constitution can be defined as rules, regulations, and norms stipulated in a document that guards the activities of people in a country or Nation.

What's Pollution?

Pollution could be defined as the poisoning of air with an unpleasant smell that is toxic to the body. Pollution is never a good thing. It is usually harmful to the body and is usually kicked against.

Pollution arises sometimes due to lack of proper regulatory bodies or the inadequacy of the creation of awareness by governmental bodies. We have different types of pollution some of which includes:

Land pollution
Air pollution
Noise pollution
Water pollution

Land pollution: Land pollution has to do with the pollution of land through the use of waste products. These waste products could be spoiled meals. This expired product when left carelessly on land or pedestrian walkway becomes a nuisance to people. The sight is never appealing. And it also it a way contributes to air pollution because this waste product would begin to develop an offensive odor that wouldn't affect normal air.

Air pollution: Air pollution has to do with the pollution of air with sickly and acidic products like smoke, as well as smiles from cars, bush burning, the smell of waste products, dirty drainage, etc. The aforementioned pollutes the air and never allows for the proper intake of fresh air which is very important.

Noise pollution: Noise pollution occurs when loud and unwanted sounds are heard. For example the sound of the generator. Sounds like this when heard consistently can affect one's hearing and thus is termed pollution. Heavy music is also Moise pollution.

Teenagers for instance who throw parties usually tend to play loud music that they enjoy which would indirectly affect neighbors living close by.

People should try to listen to music at normal volumes. It isn't everyone who would like to blow their eardrums off with loud music. Also, businesses shouldn't be done where people residing in order not to cause noise pollution with the sound of loud generators.

Water pollution: When unwanted substances are thrown into the water. When a bodily substance is thrown into the water. These substances can include; Feaces, urine, water that has been used to clean house items or clothes. Substances like these should never be thrown into the river because it pollutes the water.

The water drilling in most of our houses is being gotten from the river and as such these rivers should be kept clean always. One should as well understand that the water we drink goes directly to our bloodstream and do should be taken seriously so as not to come in contact with sicknesses that shall have been avoided.

We would be safer from sickness if our environment is devoid of any form of pollution. If wasted products are burnt where humans do not reside, feces and urine are dumped in their proper places. Generators are kept far away, out of hearing. These actions if taken seriously can help avoid a lot of health problems that constantly affects individuals living in polluted areas.

If awareness is also created about the outcome of this waste product carelessly thrown about in improper places. Then a lot of health issues would be reduced greatly.

What's Culture

Culture has to do with a peculiar way persons in a particular community speak. The way they interact, the languages they speak, the food they eat, etc.

So in summary, culture has to do with a settler's way of life. People in diverse countries live and interact differently. Culture has been from inception. People's culture differs ranging from the types of clothes they wear, the nature of the food they eat, the manner they eat it.

Their languages, beliefs, norms, etc. These are the factors that distinguish one culture from the other. They are some cultures for instance that feel that a woman is not supposed to put on trousers. There are also done cultures that see nothing with it.

Material culture
Non-material culture
*Material Culture: Has to do with the physical factors that one can see and touch. These physical factors include Clothes, food, currency, etc.

Some cultures can be distinguished by the type of buildings. Nigeria in earlier times had mud and thatch houses for home. Different countries as well operate with different currencies. While the United States of America deals with Dollars, Nigeria deals with Naira, while Ghana deals with Cedis. Clothing as well makes different counties and their cultures differ.

Some countries are seen to frown upon ladies and women who put on trousers while other countries make it a written law that skirts be worn by men and trousers by women.
The significance of culture is that it helps us stand out.

Persons are able to decipher between countries using these attributes. One would often wonder how the world would have been if everyone were to speak the same language. It would have been bland, wouldn't it?

Non-material culture: Non-material culture has to do with the set of beliefs, norms, and traditions that a certain country or community imbibe. None material culture is abstract in nature. What this means is that it cannot be seen nor touched.

Different communities have different traditions, cultures, and norms that govern them. There are some traditions in most countries that feel that before a woman marries, a dowry should be paid to the father in her head.

These settlers hold strongly to this culture and do not go against it. While other countries or communities sees nothing wrong know handing out their daughters freely for marriage. Certain rules and norms also distinguish countries from the other. It is a norm in Nigeria that a woman who has just out to bee be fed heavily and thoroughly with locally prepared dishes.

Conclusion: Culture in the world is inevitable and is here to stay. Culture can never be done away with. Culture is who we are, culture is what defines us. So, no one should ever feel queer because of his/ her culture.
